The Hosts - 4NPs

We are Oneida, Colleen, Alicia and Christina. Four women who met in nursing school 17 years ago. We've been through it all: nursing school, work, balancing life, relationships, children, new careers, more education, more new careers and now, this podcast. As nurses we are part of a sisterhood; as friends, we support each other through it all. We've learned the hard way that there isn't much support out there for new nurses/practitioners, so we decided to start this podcast to talk about it. Please subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts.

Please join us on this nursing journey.

Oneida

I graduated with my BSN in 2007 and I’ve enjoyed 14 fulfilling years at the bedside in various specialties including, ortho/neuro, gastroenterology, and home health. I returned to school for a Master of Science in Nursing and I currently hold a national Certification with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I am fluent in English and Spanish and I’m dedicated to building strong and long-lasting relationships. I take special interest in motivating and educating my patients to improve their quality of life. When I’m not working, My husband and I are busy raising our two energetic sons and spending time with family and friends.

Alicia

I am a mother of four phenomenal children, four grandchildren, and have loved on four adorable kitties. I love all things in holistic, naturopathic and alternative medicine, and have recently started exploring plant-based nutrition and remedies. I love to mentor and encourage other nurses, and love sharing my experiences, my faith, wisdom, and clinical pearls, to help others be the best they can be. I little about my career history began with obtaining my BSN in 2007. I have experiences in Cardiopulmonary, OR, Hospital Case Management, Home Health Care Management, and currently in the Urgent Care setting. In my desire to advance personally and educationally, I completed a Master of Science in Nursing in 2020, earned ANCC certification in 2021, and currently hold licensure as an FNP-BC. Practicing daily gratitude and acknowledging life and each day as a gift and chance to do something greater is what excites me and keeps me moving forward.

Colleen

I am a Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) and business owner. When I'm not working or dancing the mom shuffle for my three beautiful children, I'm chilling with my dogs, cats, and a "few" chickens. I started my nursing career as an LPN and later, RN with Hospice. After graduating with my BSN, I worked as an ICU Staff Nurse for just under a year. Beyond that, most of my career has been spent as a clinical research nurse and manager. I have also taught as an adjunct clinical and lab instructor for Nursing Skills - something I really love and hope to get back to again.

I completed my Masters in Nursing in May of 2020 and I passed my board exam in August. Currently, I am a self-employed clinical trials consultant and I have very recently started a per diem NP position in research and telehealth. I've always wanted to be a podcaster - luckily I know 3 amazing NPs to do it with! I'm so excited for this new adventure!

Christina

I am a California girl born and raised who journeyed across the country 17 years ago with my family to live in the beautiful Hudson Valley. I absolutely love living in New York and thoroughly enjoy watching the change in seasons. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 24 years and we have raised 2 amazing young men. I am truly blessed beyond measure. I came late into healthcare because I was one of those lost souls who couldn't quite figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. I finally figured it out when I had my first child and I was truly comforted and put at ease by the compassionate nurses taking care of me. Shortly after that I started taking my pre-requisites to start nursing school. I graduated with my BS in nursing in December 2007 and started my RN career as a cardiopulmonary nurse.  I have also worked as an RN in endoscopy and in the ICU. In 2014 I returned to school for my MS in Nursing, graduating in May 2019. My first position as an NP was in oncology hematology where I garnered an immense amount of knowledge! I have recently started a new position as an NP in a busy GI practice and I am loving it!
